Next destination: Hangzhou! This place is so different to any other city in China. Chinese citizens love this place and after this trip I understood why. This place has something spiritual, energising and relaxing about it.
When we arrived in Hangzhou, I did not have the Chinese written address for the taxi driver so this caused a lot of problems. The driver called up his daughter who could speak English but was struggling to understand me. Finally we managed to find out the hotel where we were staying and he took us there.
The first thing we did was walk towards the Westlake, which is one of the most amazing spots in Hangzhou. A beautiful water fountain is placed there and it forms a kind of water dance to traditional Chinese music. You can see a lot of nature and a lot of mountains.
Very soon you realise that more Chinese people spend their holiday here and that is why less people come up towards foreigners and want to sell you something.
Most tourists rent a bike and cycle through the small town. We actually walked a lot. We went to see the Yuefei temple which is close to the Hangzhou botanical garden. People sit in the park and play games, they sing or dance. It is a very peaceful and joyful atmosphere, it feels like you are somewhere else.
